SPIC MACAY- 2016


Ms. Arushi Mudgal is one of the foremost young talents in the field of Odissi today, known for her technical virtuosity and creative approach to tradition. She has trained under her aunt and Guru Smt. Madhavi Mudgal at the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Delhi. Ms Arushi has also had the opportunity of seeking guidance from great maestros and dancers like Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Smt. Leela Samson, and Smt. Priyadharshini govind , which has further enriched her approach to the arts.  Ms. Arushi tours extensively as a soloist performing at various prestigious festivals within India and abroad. Ms. Arushi has co-authored a book on aesthetics of Odissi with the senior scholar and aesthetician professor S.K. Saxena. A graded artiste of Doordarshan, she is empanelled with the I.C.C.R. She has conducted dance workshops in various cities of France, USA, United Kingdom and Singapore, and is a regular performer for SPICMACAY. For her contribution in the field of Odissi dance, Ms Arushi has been presented with various awards including Sangeet Natak Akademi's prestigious national award- Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar(2011), the young women Achiever's award by YFLO - FICCI (2011), the Chitra Kala Samman (2010), the Sanatan Nritya Puraskar (2006), the Indian President's Bal Shree Award(2003), the original Mind Award (2003) and the Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award (2014).

     She gave a stunning performance on 16th November 2016 at Mahatma CBSE, Madurai. It was a spectacular show indeed. We were fortunate to have such a legend on our stage.

Happy Children's Day











A good beginning makes a good ending super kids of VI and XII, Sujal Garg(VI), Varshini (XII) were given the honour of hoisting the flag. The day was started with prayer by C.C. teachers and thoughts of the day by the VIII teachers. Then followed a group song of VI teachers and C.C. teachers. The song "Sithamellam Enaku Sivamayame" sung by Mr. Anantha Krishnan filled the whole campus with divinity. Tamil department teachers under the leadership of Ms. Mangalasundari performed a fabulous Mime show about the evil factors of India which deter the fast development of the Independent India. Star children were honoured this children's Day will remain another memorable day in the hearts of Mahatmites.

DRAMA FESTIVAL - 2016

                              "OUR LIFE CHANGES, WHEN WE DISCOVER THAT SPARK"

          
       Drama Festival

      Mahatma celebrates Drama Festival every year to bring out the histrionic talents of its students. They get exposure in theatre, arts, music, props making, stage setup and costume designing. The most important skill, they learn is "Time Management", as its managing ourselves. A time for everything and anything in its time. They become an expert on stage usage and lose stage fright. It is a place for everything and everything in it's place.

                   This festival is for people who love theatre..... making it, watching it and talking about it..... an opportunity to show the tender minds work, learn, discuss, write script and try something new. 


                             
               
   All the children are brought onto the stage to express their emotions and feelings. As they walk out of the stage, they promise themselves that they will become the best human in this world.

                   








All the sections appeared for a semifinals and among them one Tamil and English from each standard appeared for finals. Among five Mahatma Schools, the first three are awarded prizes.
