              It was the first of the Mahatma schools, started in 1983, with just 32 students and 6 teachers by Mr & Mrs. Panneerselvam to provide a holistic, man-making education with due stress on character and discipline. Today the school has 3100 students & 150 staff members, catering to the needs of the student society in Madurai.  The school has a multi disciplinary curriculum and believes in an integrated approach. It focuses on developing a keen aesthetic sense in students and fosters theme based, activity centered and student oriented curriculum and believes in the philosophy that one should be 'Taught to fish and not to be provided with fish'. 

              It provides ample opportunities for its students to prove themselves in academic and non academic arena, Mahatmites leave the portals of Mahatma as unique individuals who can think and act on their own and for whom 'the world is his home'. Recently having completed its 33 years of yeomen service in the field of education Mahatma marches towards a brilliant future.
